Grand Opening Recap

By Pastor Brandon on 4/25/11

They say the older you get the faster the years go by. I am starting to believe the opposite is happening to me. I turned 40 a little over 3 months ago and it seems like 3 years. So much has happened in three months! The biggest of which was my church purchasing a larger building and relocating.

Under normal circumstances that would be a huge endeavor. We pulled the whole thing off in less than 60 days and that included an extensive remodel. It has been an amazing, faith filled journey.

April was our official Grand Opening month for our new facility. We started the month with a three week series on brokenness and ended the month with our Easter weekend services. Reflecting back, April was a blast. It was amazing. We averaged over 850 people in attendance over the month. Every Sunday we have had people commit their lives to Christ. Easter alone had 57 people commit their life to Christ.

Every Monday my staff prays over our prayer requests from Sunday. The Easter requests were separated into two different stacks; regular attenders and guests. As we went through the guest stack, one of my staff members commented on the various different ways people have found out about our church. It was actually pretty cool to think about. People came to Canyon Creek Church for the first time in April because…

they drove by the building
they found us through google
they were invited by a friend
they overheard some people talking about us
they received a direct mail piece
they received a door hanger
they heard an interview of mine on the radio
they came to our Easter Egg Hunt and decided to stay for the service
they came with family
I love it! People find faith in Christ and church through many different avenues. Sunday was a small glimpse of that!

Our first official month in our new building was historic. I shared with our church often that all the building is is a tool or resource for God to use. It is our job to utilize it as best we can. I can’t wait to look back on our first year in our new tool, resource, building.

Thanks to everyone who made our Grand Opening month so indescribable!
