Well hello there nieghbor… Sorry I coundn’t resist, blame Mr. Rogers!
The weather has been beautiful, has it not!? With great sunny weather, draws in the need for good summer music! I believe they go hand in hand. If God has blessed us with a beautiful scenery, then we should ensure that we have a beautiful soundtrack to compliment it!
Today I simply want to tell you about an up and coming contemporary Christian band that is rocking my socks off right now! I am blessed to know the lead singer of the band “New Heights.” They are a Seattle based band that has been touring and performing across Washington and the United States for the past 5 years. They most recently just got done opening on tour for Starfield. In the past they even opened for well known band, Jars of Clay.
New Heights is a 4 piece band that focuses on sharp spiritual truth, backed by solid musical talent. I think the part that impresses me the most about the band as a whole is their focus, their belief, and their center. Everything that they do is about and for Jesus. Lead guitarist and vocalist Travis Graham is quick to remind fans the reason they are on stage. They do what they do simply to show the love and hope of Jesus Christ, and their lyrics reflect just that.
Uprising youth ministry not too long ago hosted the band to do a show for our youth service. It was cool to hear leaders and students mention what a joy it was to meet and get to know them. What a lot of people enjoy about New Heights is that their music has the ability to connect with a wide range of people. While their lyrics are obviously directed towards the religious audience, they still pull in a strong secular audience because of their pop/rock style of music. Tying in both strong spiritual lyrics and mixing it with a secular sound, is something that many bands attempt to do, but many have failed to accomplish.
I strongly advise New Heights to any crowd. Young, old; religious, secular; male, female; New Heights has something to offer any audience!
Check them out on myspace at http://www.myspace.com/newheightsmusic, or facebook at http://www.facebook.com/newheightsmusic. You can also purchase their new album “Starting Again” on itunes.
Give this glorious scenery a good soundtrack as you role down the street, trust me, you will enjoy it!
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the music as much as I have!
