To Infinity and Beyond (Or Africa)

By Pastor Brandon on 9/6/10

As most of you know by now, Dan Fortune and I will be leaving this afternoon for a whirlwind, 11 day trip to Africa representing Canyon Creek Church. About a year ago, the missionaries that our church supports on that continent asked the Elder board if they would send me to visit them. It took Dan Fortune and I about a year to find an 11 day window that worked for our missionaries and for us but we found it. So we leave today.

I was asked numerous times on Sunday where exactly we will be and who exactly we will be seeing.  Unfortunately, we are traveling to so many different places I couldn’t remember off the top of my head. I wanted to take a moment and share our itinerary so everyone at Canyon Creek Church can be praying for us.

The whirlwind itinerary:

Monday, September 6th:
Travel from Seattle to Amsterdam

Tuesday, September 7th:
Arrive in Amsterdam, have a 3 hour layover, then fly 8 hours to Nairobi.

Wednesday, September 8th:
Fly from Nairobi to Kisumu where we will meet with the team at the Milwani Center.

Thursday, September 9th:
Tour the Milwani Center and depart that evening back to Nairobi.

Friday, September 10th:
Fly from Nairobi to Johannesburg, South Africa where we will meet with Charissa (Mcpherson) and Michal Styne.

Saturday, September 11th:
Bryan Eygbroad will pick us up in Johannesburg and drive us to Sun City for a day safari.

Sunday, September 12th:
Leave Sun City and drive with Bryan to Maseru, Lesotho to spend some time with him at his base.

Monday and Tuesday, September 13th and 14th:
With Bryan Eygroad in Maseru.

Wednesday, September 15th:
Drive from Maseru to Johannesburg where I will catch a flight back to the states.

Thursday, September 16th:
I get to see my family again (late that night)

Friday, September 17th:
Catch up on the season finale of Big Brother and the season premiere of Survivor.

My plan is to blog as often as possible during this trip. I will post pictures and videos whenever I can. So be checking back often on the church website, The City, our Facebook page, and my Fight Pastor site. Dan and I are excited to serve as ambassadors from Canyon Creek Church to our missionaries. I promise to send our love and deliver all the cards people handed me to give them.

See you in two weeks!

Pastor Brandon
