    Adventures in Authoring

We will be exploring Creative Writing in a traditional workshop format, and also through examination of the Bible.  We are created in the image of a creator.  Our Christianity informs how we create, whether we’re creating spiritual or secular work.  Therefore we will explore how God used storytelling, narrative, prose and poetry; so that we can honor God with our own creativity.  Writers of all styles, genres, and skill levels are welcome.

Jeff Troy is a tutor and freelance writer who has published a handful of stories and has an impressive collection of rejection letters.  Jeff and his wife, Kyrie, have been married for 8 years and have a 3-year-old son named Orion. Eric Drivdahl is an architect by profession who loves to dabble in many creative pursuits, including writing.  He is currently writing a ‘morality tale’ for his boys.  Eric and his wife, Sarah, have been married 15 years this June and have two boys named Ezra and Noah, ages 6 and 9.

Be Yourself — Everyone Else is Taken!

This group is geared toward college-aged young adults. We will meet at various locations throughout the summer. However, the main connection point will be Chris and Maggie’s apartment in Mill Creek, WA. The goal of this fusion group is to build a strong community of young adults (18-24ish)  who are passionate about Jesus and are connected to each other. We will do this by taking the time to challenge each other with what God has for each one of us in this life, and of course - having a good time!

    Captivating the Wild

“God doesn’t make generic people; he makes something very distinct - a man or a woman.  In other words, there is a masculine heart and a feminine heart, which in their own ways reflect or portray to the world God’s heart.”  (John Eldredge).

Therefore, we have created a really unique group. This one group will combine some elements (like social time, play dates and service projects), and then separate for targeted male and female studies. We will use the popular books “Wild at Heart” (Men’s text) and “Captivating” (Women’s text) by John and Stasi Eldredge, and the complimentary small group DVD studies.  These books explore the unique dreams of men and women, exploring how culture, relationships and even the church can confuse God-given roles and aspirations, and how to embrace the passion and freedom God intends for our lives. This is open to singles and couples.

Men will meet at the Thompson house and women will simultaneously meet down the street at the Creeley home.  Cool.

    Crazy Love

“It’s crazy if you think about it. The God of the universe — the Creator of nitrogen and pine needles, galaxies and e-minor — loves us with a radical, unconditional, self-sacrificing love. And what is our typical response? We go to church, sing songs, and try not to cuss.

Whether you’ve verbalized it yet or not . . . we all know something’s wrong.

Does something deep inside your heart long to break free from the status quo? Are you hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical, solutions? God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isn’t working harder at a list of do’s and don’ts — it’s falling in love with God. And once you encounter His love, as Francis describes it, you will never be the same. Because when you’re wildly in love with someone, it changes everything.”

Leader: Mari Morgan is a full time student at Lake Washington Technical College studying to be a Physical Therapist Assistant.  She enjoys music (singing, playing and listening), reading, and sports, but mostly enjoys spending time with friends and getting to know people.  She has been attending Canyon Creek Church for a little more than two years.

    Faces of Jesus

In a couple of months we will all celebrate Easter. . .again.

But I wonder, how many of us will have really paused to consider what we are celebrating. This is not just another religious fairytale. This is the most INCENDIARY and otherwise insane Truth that ever consumed the Universe. The second person of the Godhead was born as a baby, really lived, died and was resurrected. Jesus was a real man, in concrete history, with a real human face. Will you take the time to consider it, will you consider him? Will you make this Easter different? Christian and Jennifer Lindbeck and Ty and Stephanie Wiese are both late 30/early 40 parents with school age kids. They both live in the Silver Fir/ Totem Falls area and are looking forward to a spring semester of new relationships.

    Men of Integrity

From the television to the Internet, print media to videos, men are constantly faced with the assault of sensual images. It is impossible to avoid such temptations…but, thankfully, NOT impossible to rise above them.

This book shatters the perception that men are unable to
control their thought lives and roving eyes. Every Man’s Battle shares the stories of dozens who have escaped the trap of sexual immorality and presents a practical, detailed plan for any man who desires sexual purity.

Cool.

God, Good Food, and a Healthy Appetite is a group that loves cooking and eating food. We will be cooking and hanging out in the nice summer weather. This group combines a love of food with the building of relationships. Our curriculum will be biblical topics discussed over food and activities. How can you go wrong with good food and great conversation? That’s right… you can’t!

    Meets: Every Monday at 7:00PM

Josh and Katie Weisbrod have been attending Canyon Creek for almost five years. They were married in August 2009. Josh is the youth director at Canyon Creek. They both really enjoy cooking, playing music, and spending time in the sun when it is around.

Damian and Mindy Pongpanik recently moved to Seattle from Salt Lake City, UT. Damian is a trained chef and does most of the cooking while Mindy reaps the benefits. Damian and Mindy are outgoing and joyful people who love to spend time with friends and have fun. They have been at CCC for the last year and both love the Lord and serving others.

“I recommend this group for every man” - Pastor Christian

    Meets: Every Thursday at 7:00PM

Garret Frazier says, “Honestly, I’ve struggled with what it means to be a man of integrity. And I’ve seen the
devastating effects of not learning how to live with the desires God has given you.” Garrett has a Masters of Arts degree in

It was the best of times, it was the END of times?!

Attention young adults! Are you curious how the world ends? Who isn’t? Join us Saturday nights as we dive deep into the Book of Revelation (don’t worry, it will be cool), and clearly lay out the promises God has made for our future.  The Mayan calendar has nothing on the last book of the New Testament! Plus you will meet the other great young adults who will probably be here to celebrate New Years Eve on 2012!

Leaders: Drew and Kaylee are young parents with two adorable kids. They have been dedicated to Canyon Creek and Young adults since the beginning. Don’t miss this opportunity for great friendship and mentoring.

    Raising Modern Day Knights

Both Nick and Aaron are fathers of young boys that long for them to grow up to be strong men of God. This father and son Fusion group will provide opportunities for you to meet with other dads and discover what it takes to raise your “modern day knight”. There will be some exciting outings with the boys as well as we live out our call as fathers.

Meets: Saturdays at 8:00AM (This time has been adjusted from the Catalog printed 9:00AM)

Nick Bogner - Nick is a father of three with his wife Renae of 13 years. He enjoys sports, camping, jeeps and flying, or just about anything else outdoors. He has served on the Elder Board at Canyon Creek for the last three years.
