To a nation riding on the crest of economic prosperity and proud of being God’s elect, the prophet Amos brought a message of warning.  The Lord’s patience with materialism, injustice, and self-satisfied religion was ended; if Israel did not repent immediately, the Lord would destroy her.  Israel’s sins are all too familiar to us, and the Lion still roars to urge repentance.  This call to “Seek Me and live” can yet move God’s people to respond to His offer of forgiveness, inner transformation, and glory.
