After a miraculous deliverance from Egypt, the Israelites have wandered in the Sinai desert for 40 years.  Now, as they stand on the east bank of the Jordan river and look across at the promised land, their leader Moses speaks his last words to them before his death.  He instructs them in God’s requirements for holiness and reaffirms the covenant between the Israelites and their Lord.  This declaration of the old covenant, often quoted by Jesus and Paul, reveals much about God and offers surprisingly relevant wisdom for Christians today.
